You Manage What You Track

It’s been a month since I wrapped up my three-month Surefooted Micro-habit challenge, and April was… interesting.

One major takeaway is simple: you manage what you track.

During January, February, and March, I was focused on very specific habits. I tracked them daily, I wrote about them openly, and my success rate was high. Even better, it spilled into other areas of my life - my health, my work, and my family life all felt more intentional and productive.

Then came April.

I took my foot off the gas a bit. I kept up with my workouts, and I loosely held onto a few habits  making my bed, eating an apple a day, journaling.) But compared to the previous three months, my consistency dropped.

And honestly, that’s okay.

There’s value in pushing forward - but there’s also value in stepping back. Rest has its place too.

The other thing that’s been on my mind lately is how we start.

If you’ve got a goal - or a habit you want to build (or break) - when is the “right” time to begin? Is there some ideal moment in the calendar? A better day of the week? A perfect season of life?

I don’t think so.

The best time to start is right now.

No waiting. No overthinking.

And if you miss a day along the way? That’s fine too. It’s not about restarting every time you fall off track, it’s about picking up where you left off.

So if there’s something you’ve been meaning to focus on, this is your nudge.

Pick up a Surefooted Journal. Set a goal. Start small. Let the process support you.

Time moves quickly. And if you begin today, there’s a very good chance that three months from now, you’ll be glad you did.

Have a great month ahead, and stay Surefooted.
